The Eastern Phantoms represent the very best of junior baseball from Perth's eastern metropolitan region, bringing together talented players from Morley Eagles, Perth Baseball Club and UWA Magpies.

The Charter was established to provide young baseballers with the opportunity to compete at the highest level of junior baseball in Western Australia. Players are selected to represent the Eastern Phantoms at Baseball WA State Championships, with a pathway through to Australian Championships and, for successful teams, the opportunity to represent Australia at the World Series in the United States.

The Phantoms have developed a strong reputation for excellence, with a proud history of State and Australian Championship success. Their achievements include Australian Championship titles and appearances on the international stage, showcasing the depth of talent within Perth's eastern metropolitan baseball community.

The Australian Youth Championships (AYC) are the pinnacle of junior representative baseball in Australia for players in the Under 16 and Under 18 age groups.

Each year, the best young baseballers from across Australia are selected to represent their State or Territory, competing against the country's strongest junior programs in a national championship environment.

For Western Australian players, selection to the WA U16 or U18 team is a significant achievement and provides an opportunity to compete at the highest level of junior baseball in Australia. The championships form an important part of Baseball Australia's Performance Pathway, with players being assessed for future national team opportunities and attracting attention from professional and college scouts.

The AYC is about more than winning games. Players experience high-level competition, travel, elite coaching and the demands of representing their State, while developing the skills, confidence and resilience required to take the next step in their baseball journey.

For Morley Eagles players, the pathway from club baseball to State representation and the Australian Youth Championships provides an exciting opportunity to challenge themselves against Australia's best young players.

For female baseballers, the pathway extends from club baseball to the highest levels of competition in Australia.

The Australian Youth Women’s Championship (AYWC) provides an opportunity for Under 16 players to represent Western Australia and compete against the best young female baseballers from across the country. It is an important step in the development of young athletes, providing high-level competition and valuable experience in a national championship environment.

The Australian Women’s Championship (AWC) is the premier open-level State-versus-State championship in Australian baseball. It brings together the best female players from around the country and provides a pathway for athletes looking to progress towards national team selection and international competition.

Both championships form an important part of Baseball Australia's Performance Pathway, with national-level competition providing opportunities for player development, national team identification and progression towards higher levels of the game.

Morley Eagles is proud to support and develop female baseballers at every stage of their journey. From taking the field for Morley, through State representation and onto the national stage, our players have the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop their skills and pursue their baseball ambitions.

Celebrating the Future of Women’s Baseball

The Barclay Cup is a national junior girls’ baseball tournament for players aged 13–16, bringing together young female baseballers from across Australia for a week of competition, development, friendship and fun.

Established in 2022, the tournament was created in honour of Jacinda Barclay, a talented West Australian sportswoman and Australian baseball representative whose passion for baseball, sport and inspiring young women continues to influence the next generation.

Unlike traditional State-versus-State championships, the Barclay Cup provides an opportunity for multiple teams from each State and Territory to participate. This creates a unique environment where young players can compete against girls from across the country, experience high-level baseball and build friendships and connections that extend beyond the diamond.

For Morley Eagles’ female players, the Barclay Cup represents another exciting opportunity to experience national competition and continue developing as baseballers. It is a tournament that celebrates not only performance, but the camaraderie, confidence, courage and love of the game that are at the heart of women’s baseball.

Baseball provides young athletes with opportunities to represent not only their club, but also their school and State.

Through School Sport WA, students can compete in school-based baseball competitions and pursue selection in the Western Australian School Sport baseball team. The program provides another valuable pathway for young baseballers to experience representative competition, develop their skills and challenge themselves against some of the best school-aged players from across Australia.

School Sport WA works in partnership with Baseball WA to deliver school baseball competitions across Western Australia, including Champion Schools Baseball and Machine Pitch competitions.

For players selected in the WA School Sport team, the pathway extends to the School Sport Australia National Schools Championship, where students represent Western Australia against teams from other States and Territories.

The Perth Heat are Western Australia’s premier baseball team and compete in the Australian Baseball League (ABL), bringing together the state’s best local talent with selected international players.

Founded in 1989 as one of the ABL’s foundation teams, the Heat have become one of Australian baseball’s most successful clubs, with a proud history of championship success and a strong tradition of developing players who have gone on to compete at the highest levels of the game, including Major League Baseball.

For Morley Eagles players, the Perth Heat represent an important part of the baseball pathway — providing an opportunity to see Western Australian talent competing at an elite level and inspiring the next generation of players to aim higher.
